Why Does My Recipient Show as Pending?

Why a notification recipient sits on Pending, what the one-hour rule means, and how to resend the invitation.

Answer

A notification recipient shows Pending when the invitation has been open for more than an hour and the recipient has not accepted it. Nothing has failed, and the invitation is still valid: CommPeak simply does not send notifications to an address until its owner opts in.

Statuses move on their own. A new invitation shows Invitation sent for the first hour, then changes to Pending if the recipient has not accepted by then.

To send the invitation again:

  1. Go to Account Settings > Notifications.
  2. In the Email recipients table, find the recipient's row.
  3. Click Resend.
Resend appears only on Pending rows. An invitation less than an hour old has not had time to be read, so there is nothing to resend yet.

If the recipient still does not accept, check that the address is correct. Email addresses are locked after an invitation goes out, so a typo means removing the recipient and inviting them again: see Notifications Settings.
