To create a new template:
-
Click + New event template.

-
The Stream Message Content page opens, where you can provide the following information:
-
Event name
-
Category (click to select the needed option from the drop-down menu: MARKETING, UTILITY, or AUTHENTICATION)

Selecting message category
-
Message language.
The next steps depend on the category you select. For MARKETING and UTILITY templates, you write the message content yourself. For AUTHENTICATION templates, WhatsApp defines the message text for you.
Marketing and Utility templates
For MARKETING and UTILITY templates, compose the message content:
- In the Content section, provide the message content including its header, body (required), and footer.
You can use the RTL Editor option to write messages in one of the RTL (Right to Left) languages, like Arabic or Hebrew.

Using RTL Editor option
- In the Buttons section, click to add the button(s) you will need for your message (Website Link, Call Phone Number, Quick reply, etc.). Also, provide the button's name and value.

Button type selection
- Finally, preview your message and click Create Template.

NOTEThere are some rules you need to observe while creating your message.
For example, you can add only one Call Phone Number button to the message, but you are free to add as many Website Link buttons as needed.
Authentication Templates
Authentication templates deliver one-time passwords (OTPs) to your contacts. Their message content is preset by WhatsApp, so there is no Content or Buttons section to fill in:
- The message text is fixed: the verification code followed by the security disclaimer
For your security, do not share this code. - The Copy Code button is added automatically, letting your contacts copy the received code with one tap.
To create an authentication template:
-
Select AUTHENTICATION as the template category.
-
Preview your message and click Create Template.

Creating authentication template
Once approved, the template appears on the Events tab with the Approved status and can be used for delivering one-time passwords through your OTP configurations. For details, see Creating WhatsApp Streams.
Editing and Deleting Templates
All of the templates are editable and can be deleted if needed.

Editing template
Once the template is approved by WhatsApp, it can be used for messaging inside your Inbox.
