Channel Types

Channels groups every TextPeak messaging route under its type. Create a channel, manage its token and settings, and read its status from one page.

Channels is the TextPeak page where every messaging route lives, grouped under the type it belongs to. This page lists the ten types and links to the setup guide for each one. For what Channels is and how to manage a route once it exists, see [doc: channels-overview].

NOTE

Channels is the new name for Streams API. The routes themselves have not changed: your existing streams appear here as channels, and every token, template, and webhook continues to work. Only the page and its navigation have been rebuilt.

TextPeak carries the following channel types:

  • Marketing routes for Promotional SMS messages, product update announcements, reminders, and more
  • Transactional routes for the automated texts (Transactional SMS) generated in response to specific customer actions
  • OTP routes that deliver one-time passwords to users
  • Two-Way SMS routes that allow for communication in both directions
  • WebChat routes for an embeddable live-chat widget on your own website or app
  • Email routes that send from a domain you own and receive the replies in the TextPeak inbox
  • Telegram bot routes for two-way conversations in Telegram
  • WhatsApp routes for interacting with the WhatsApp Business platform
  • Voice routes that deliver one-time passwords and other voice-based notifications over a dedicated SIP account.

Refer to the following pages for step-by-step instructions on setting up each type:

This comprehensive guide on the SMS route types provides more information and advice on choosing the right route type.
