Connecting WhatsApp Business with the Embedded Launcher
Learn how the WhatsApp Business Embedded Launcher connects an account to TextPeak through Meta, and why each channel now carries one phone number.
Connecting WhatsApp Business with the Embedded Launcher
The WhatsApp Business Embedded Launcher connects a WhatsApp Business account to TextPeak through a Meta sign-in wizard, so you no longer paste an auth token and a business ID by hand. This article covers what the launcher does, the one change it makes to how WhatsApp channels work, and what to do until it reaches your account.
BEFORE PUBLISHINGThe embedded launcher is not yet available on the staging environment, so this page is drafted from the product briefing rather than from the live flow. Confirm every step, screenshot, and label against the working launcher before publishing, and remove this callout. Ben C is notifying the documentation team when the launcher is operational (TEXTPEAK-2558).
What the launcher changes
Until now, connecting a WhatsApp Business account meant collecting an auth token and a business ID from Meta and entering them into the channel's WhatsApp settings. CommPeak is now an official WhatsApp Business partner, which allows the sign-in flow to run inside Meta instead.
- You click a Facebook sign-in button in TextPeak.
- A Meta wizard opens in a pop-up window, outside TextPeak.
- You sign in to your Facebook Business account, select the WhatsApp account, select the phone number, and grant the permissions the wizard asks for.
- On finish, TextPeak configures the channel from what the wizard returns. No token and no business ID are entered by hand.
NOTEThe launcher needs a Facebook Business account with access to the WhatsApp Business account you want to connect. It does not need the auth token or business ID.
One phone number per channel
IMPORTANTThe wizard connects exactly one phone number to one channel. A WhatsApp channel created through the launcher carries a single sender number, where a WhatsApp stream could previously carry several.
To send from more than one number, create one WhatsApp channel per number. The channels can all belong to the same WhatsApp Business account, so this is a change in how the routes are organized rather than a change in what you can send.
This also affects where those numbers appear elsewhere in the platform. Sender profiles, incoming routing, the inbox, and CommPeak Dialer all resolve a WhatsApp channel to its one number.
VERIFY: what happens to existing WhatsApp streams that carry several numbers when the launcher ships, and whether they are split automatically or need manual work. Confirm with Ben C.
